Dental Sedation, Barrie Dentist

Calming Anxiety & Making Treatment More Comfortable

At Big Bay Dental, we offer a variety of sedation options including oral sedation, nitrous oxide and IV sedation. Our dentists evaluate each patient's sedation needs on a case-by-case basis and can help determine if a dental sedation option is right for you.

But we believe that helping patients feel comfortable is about more than just offering sedation medications. We also provide a choice of music, movies and TV programs to help put your mind at ease, work at a pace you are comfortable with and take breaks if you need them.

If you suffer from dental fear or anxiety, you're not alone. Speak to the team at our Barrie dental clinic and we will do everything we can to help you feel relaxed and comfortable during your dental appointments.

Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)

Nitrous oxide is inhaled through the mouth and nose. The medication calms patients even though they remain awake and able to communicate. It also tends to lessen anxiety, increase pain threshold, reduce gag reflex and make time seem to pass more quickly.

Oral Sedation

Oral sedatives are pills or liquids prescribed by your dentist. This medication is taken orally in advance of your dental appointment. It helps you to remain relaxed and calm from the moment you walk through our door until your treatment is complete.

IV Sedation

IV sedatives are administered directly into the bloodstream through the vein for the deepest level of sedation without general anesthesia. Our dental team will attach you to a monitor so that the dentist can keep track of vital signs during the procedure.
